Cold Silence

This photo is special to me. It's an example of some of the magic moments you can experience in Iceland, if you're lucky. We had been doing a lot of driving on this day - west towards Reykjavik near the end of the trip. We stopped off at Jökulsárlón again at sunset and though it was busy, it was extremely quiet. It was one of the most peaceful moments of my life. I was struck by how many birds littered the icebergs in the lagoon. In the distance, a large iceberg cracked and startled the birds. They took off right as I had my camera pointed in their direction, and I captured this moment. It was perfect.
